FFP2 masks and KN95 masks are both types of filtering facepiece respirators that provide a high level of protection against airborne particles.

    Certification Standards:

FFP2 Mask: The FFP2 (Filtering Face Piece) mask is certified under the European standard EN 149:2001+A1:2009. It is commonly used in European countries and conforms to the filtering efficiency, breathing resistance, and leakage requirements specified by the standard. EN 149:2001+A1:2009 is the European standard for filtering half masks used as respiratory protective devices.    The standard defines the minimum requirements for filtering efficiency, inhalation resistance, and exhalation resistance of respiratory protective devices.    EN 149:2001+A1:2009 categorizes respirators into three classes: FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3, based on their filtration efficiency and total inward leakage.  FFP2 masks certified under EN 149:2001+A1:2009 are designed to filter at least 94% of airborne particles and provide a higher level of protection compared to FFP1 masks. The standard also includes additional performance tests, such as breathing resistance, clogging, and practical performance assessment.

KN95 Mask: The KN95 mask is certified under the Chinese standard GB2626-2006. It is widely used in China and has gained popularity internationally. The GB2626-2006 standard specifies the performance requirements, testing methods, and filtration efficiency for KN95 respirators.GB2626-2006 is the Chinese standard for respiratory protective equipment, specifically particulate filtering facepiece respirators. The standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, and performance characteristics of respirators.    GB2626-2006 categorizes respirators into two levels: KN95 and KN100, based on their filtration efficiency. KN95 masks certified under GB2626-2006 are designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particles and provide a similar level of protection to FFP2 masks. The standard includes requirements for various performance factors, including filtration efficiency, inhalation resistance, exhalation resistance, and leakage.

    Filtration Efficiency:

FFP2 Mask: The FFP2 mask is designed to filter at least 94% of airborne particles. It provides a higher level of filtration compared to surgical masks or cloth masks and is effective in capturing particles such as dust, pollen, and airborne pathogens.

KN95 Mask: The KN95 mask has a similar filtration efficiency requirement as the FFP2 mask, with a minimum filtration efficiency of 95% for airborne particles. It offers a similar level of protection against particles as the FFP2 mask.

    Fit and Seal:

FFP2 Mask: FFP2 masks often have a cup-shaped design and may provide a better facial seal due to their construction. They usually have adjustable nose clips and elastic headbands to secure the mask firmly in place.

KN95 Mask: KN95 masks typically have a foldable design and can fit various face shapes. They also feature adjustable nose clips and elastic ear loops or headbands to ensure a snug fit and minimize leakage.

    Availability:

FFP2 Mask: Disposable FFP2 Masks are commonly available in European markets and are widely used in healthcare settings, construction, and other industries.

KN95 Mask: KN95 masks are primarily available in China and have been exported to many countries worldwide. They are commonly used in healthcare, industrial, and general public settings.
